Behind Skipton Castle lies a rare ancient wood cared for by the Woodland Trust. The 37-acre habitat is more than 1,000 years old and includes the Sougha Gill Challenge, a steep climb of over 50 steps connecting the lower Eller Beck footpath to the Earl of Thanet trail at the top of the woods.
